Youth Retreat Info

Hey Everyone,

Registration is open for the 2011 Youth Winter Retreat! All 6th through 12th graders are invited to attend. The retreat will be December 16-18, 2011, at Camp Buckner in Burnet, Texas. Registration is $99 per person. 

Download the registration form ( http://tinyurl.com/3pk8zlw)  have you or your parents fill it out with the Buckner Health assessment form (http://tinyurl.com/3w4xhhm) .  Make checks payable to Austin Chinese Church and write Winter Retreat 2011 in the memo line.  You can turn it in to Pastor Daniel or bring it over to front of Morrison Hall after Breakouts and some one from Lighthouse will be there. Registration will close after we get to 100 campers so sign-up and reserve your spot ASAP.

Please make note of the following information:

·         Going: Friday, December 16th: meet at Gateway Church at 5:15 PM by the basketball court.  Gateway Church is located at 7104 McNeil Dr., 78729. Click here for a map link. Dinner on Friday will NOT be provided. Please be sure to grab something to eat before getting on the bus. 

·         Returning: Sunday, December 18th: the bus will arrive back at Austin Chinese Church, located at 11118 Dessau Rd, 78754 (NOT Gateway Church) at 1:00 PM.  Click here for a map link.

·         Packing List: bible, pen, notebook/paper, pillow, sunscreen, water bottle, flashlight, bug repellent, alarm clock, bedding and/or sleeping bag, towels, toiletries, jacket, and 2 days worth of warm clothing. Please refrain from bringing any electronic video games (like Nintendo DS), trading cards or anything that might isolate you (or other people) from our time together at the retreat. However, board games and group games are allowed for our indoor activity time.

·         Camp Buckner Health Status Assessment Form: please remember to complete, sign and bring this form on the day of the retreat (it was on the reverse side of the youth retreat flyer).  Please hand the form in prior to boarding the bus.  If you are missing this form, please contact Pastor Daniel at (deng@austinchinesechurch.org)

TRANSPORTATION INFO

Thursday, August 11^th (9:00AM)

The pickup location for the buses will be at Gateway Church (7104 McNeil Rd. Austin TX, 78729). Please have your health form, 1 per camper, filled out (that morning!) and ready to turn in before boarding the buses. If you need a health form contact Calvin (calyiu@acclighthouse.org)

Sunday, August 14^th (1PM)

The buses will return to Austin Chinese Church on Sunday afternoon around 1pm.

PACKING LIST FOR YOUTH RETREAT

For Cabins: bedding AND blanket OR sleeping bag, pillow, towels, toiletries, 4 days worth of clothing (keep in mind, you may get wet!),  Optional: Shower shoes, alarm clock,

For Study: Bible, pen ,notebook/paper

For Outdoors: backpack/bag, sunscreen, water bottle, swimming attire (one-piece for females; otherwise a dark t-shirt must be worn on top), flashlight (batteries!), insect repellent, sneakers (socks!), hat, sunglasses, deodorant

What NOT to bring:

·         Please refrain from bringing any electronic video games (like Nintendo DS), trading cards or anything that might isolate you (or other people) from our time together at the retreat.

·         Be careful about bringing any valuables that might get damaged or misplaced.

·         For obvious safety reasons, do not bring any drugs/alcohol/weapons.

FTW: Faith That Works
Faith is a crucial part of our relationship with God.  Without it, we wouldn’t be saved and we couldn’t please God.  Join us this 2010 summer as we dive deeper into how critical faith in Christ is in our lives and how it can move mountains and do the impossible.  Faith that works is for the win!

Cost: $170 per person ($10 sibling discount; 2 campers is $330) during early registration period ending June 6th.

Late registration is $180 per person (2 campers is $350) from June 7th to 27th.

Refund policy: full refund before July 7th; 50% between July 12th to 29th; no refund after July 29th

Invite your friends.  Incoming grade 6 students are encouraged to come.

How to Register:

• Step 1: Click here to complete the online registration form (your parents will have to do this).

• Step 2: Download the waiver forms (which are found within the online registration process).

• Step 3: Submit the signed waiver forms and check to a parent representative at the table in Morrison Hall’s foyer between May 16th to June 6th for early registration. Alternatively, you can mail your waiver forms and check to Youth Retreat c/o Austin Chinese Church 11118 Dessau Road, Austin, TX 78754.

• COMING BACK: The bus will arrive at Austin Chinese Church at 12:30 PM on Sunday December 20th.

• PACKING LIST: Bible, pen, notebook/paper, alarm clock, bedding and/or sleeping bag, pillow, water bottle, flashlight, towel, toiletries and enough warm clothes for our time there.  PLEASE FIT EVERYTHING IN A BACKPACK. There is no luggage space on the bus.

• PAYMENT: After you have registered online, please bring a check to Josh or Calvin on or before Friday December 18th.  Please make checks payable to “ACC” with your child’s name and “Winter Retreat 2009” written in the memo section.  If there is not enough room, simply staple or paper clip a small slip of paper with the names on it.

• FORMS: In addition to your $45 check, please return the following forms on Friday December 18th:

1. Austin Chinese Church Medical Authorization and Release Form
2. Camp Buckner Hill Country Retreat Center Indemnification Release Form
3. Camp Buckner Camper Health Status Assessment

In order for the youth to have a winter retreat, we need to get a head count of everyone that can make it.  The campsite will not open for us if we don’t reach a minimum number.  We are currently working out costs and will get back to you as soon as possible.
